Hiram M. Chittenden Locks
A historic public locks complex with outdoor grounds and an indoor visitor center museum where families can watch vessels and learn about salmon migration. Amenities include the Carl S. English Garden with landscaped gardens, a fish ladder, waterfront views, outdoor walking trails, picnic areas, seasonal family-friendly performances and educational programs, a gift shop, and guided tours. The seven-acre botanical garden next to the locks features winding paths and diverse plantings, scenic vistas, shaded picnic spots, and seasonal outdoor concerts; the grounds are suitable for stroller walks and casual family outings.

Rules
* While not required by law, it is simply good common sense to wear a life jacket, especially on a crowded day at the Locks. * Priority is given to emergency and commercial vessels. * Passage is free to all vessels. * Both large and small locks are open 24/7 daily, except during annual maintenance or repairs. * Jet skis and all non-motorized vessels, including kayaks, are not allowed in the Large Lock Chamber and must use the smaller locks. * Note that paddleboards are not allowed in either lock chamber. * Concert & Events are free but donations are suggested. * 100% of donations go to help pay for volunteer performances, garden upkeep and educational programs at the Locks. * Please call the visitor center for current hours. * Commercial Vessels Use Maritime Channel #13 or Call Lock Master
